After 10 Year Hiatus, Yule Log to Return to Trail of Lights

September 29, 2014

The Austin Trail of Lights is coming back bigger and better for this, its 50th year.

Trail of Lights officials joined Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell Monday to outline this year's changes. The 1.25 mile trail will include an interactive Santa's Workshop and updated displays.

This year will also mark the return of the Yule Log. The attraction first came on line in the ‘60s, but was suspended 10 years ago due to burn bans.

Normally free, admission for adults will cost three dollars this year on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Children will still get in free.

Officials say the admission price is a necessary evil as attendance continues to grow.

This year's Trail of Lights runs from Dec. 7 through Dec. 21.
