Sure, we haven’t even made it to Halloween, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start thinking about one of Austin’s longest-running holiday traditions.
The Trail of Lights will open Dec. 9 and run nightly through Dec. 23, organizers announced Wednesday. If you’re new to our fair city, the trail features more than 2 million lights and 40 displays -- some traditional holiday scenes, others more in line with Keeping Austin Weird -- in Zilker Park.
As in previous years, there will be a fun run, food trucks, live music and special theme nights on the trail, and certain nights will have free admission. More details and ticket sales will be available in early November on the trail’s website.
Also mark your calendar for Nov. 26, when the holiday spirit kicks into high gear with the lighting of the Zilker Tree.
Thank you Austin! 2017 Austin Trail of Lights was filled with smiling faces, amazing performances from our community and of course millions of twinkling lights! From spinning under the Zilker Tree, around the carousel and Ferris Wheel to visits with Santa - check out a few highlights!
